Flying dorsum to Denver this morning, nosotros passed higher upward a snowy landscape from Kansas City to Denver. Initially crossing the southern component subdivision of the one-time Metroplex, our route eventually switched to the northward side of Interstate lxx most Junction City, Kansas. As nosotros continued westward, paralleling that highway, I enjoyed a fabulous sentiment of southern Kansas too southern Colorado, the river valleys producing dark channels through the snow-covered terrain.
Noting the Smoky Hill River only southward of the Interstate, I watched every bit the Solomon too Saline Rivers curved inwards from the northward to merge amongst that stream. H5N1 flake further west, every bit the upper Smoky Hill made a beeline toward Colorado, I could run across the wide northern crimp of the Arkansas River far to the south, passing Great Bend, Kansas, earlier it dipped toward Wichita. As nosotros passed over Oakley, inwards western Kansas, I observed the Arkansas Valley i time again, line-fishing northwestward toward the Colorado line.
In Southeast Colorado, our route curved northwestward higher upward Rush Creek too I could run across the Purgatoire River to the southwest, flowing northeastward from the Raton Mesa to bring together the upper Arkansas; the latter stretched westward toward the high spine of the Sangre de Cristo Range. After crossing the wide ridge of the Palmer Divide, amongst Pike's Peak looming to the west, nosotros entered the South Platte watershed too made our in conclusion descent into Denver.
